In the Beginning...
President Mike rang the bell, assembling the huddled masses, yearning to do good and put
service above self.
The Salute to this Nation's Flag was ably handled by Terry Beckett. Sid Cohn gave a heartfelt prayer for peace and that our Country's leaders make the right decisions. Mike gave a shoutout to Dave Brubaker, our new Program Director and his "infamous" fine master, Jack Jacobs. Colin Jones and Alex Kim were our Greeters and Ren Adam personed the desk. The Reminder Editor was Carl Gross. Ginger put on a sumptuous repast. Thanks to all of you!

The Program--Dulanie Ellis--Introducing Veterans to Farming
Bret Bradigan introduced our speaker, Dulanie Ellis. She has been working on a film project the past 8 years detailing a program where returning veterans are introduced to farming as a profession.
Cal Poly is starting a new program to introduce farming to veterans. The aim of this program is to give veterans and anyone else interested the opportunity to gain knowledge in the basic skills of farming.
In the US, half of our farmers are at retirement age. She added that veterans and farmers have similar skill sets. They engage in long range planning, work in various weather conditions, and for long hours.
Thanks, Dulanie for a great presentation
