"The Shot" - how a local author's play has gone from Ojai to New York

Author Robin Gerber has written several popular books, including biographies of Ruth Handler, who created Barbi, and Eleanor Roosevelt. But she decided to take another approach with Katherine Graham, the publisher of the Washington Post who published the Pentagon Papers and gave free rein for Woodward & Bernstein to "follow the money" to the biggest political scandal of the 20th century, Watergate.

Graham, a socialite by training, was thrust into the national spotlight into a role for which she was ill-prepared when her abusive husband, the mercurial Phi Graham, took his own life. Graham stood up against the odds to become one of the most powerful people, gender aside, in America. Gerber will talk about how her one-woman play, starring Sharon Lawrence, went from the Ojai Playwrights Conference, through a successful run in the Berkshires to being accepted into the prestigious New York Theater Festival.
