On a splendid summer day, Ojai Rotarians gathered for service and fellowship. This was the first meeting during the Presidency of Wendy Barker.
Introduction
Wendy ran the meeting with her characteristic brio, thanking all those who support made the meeting possible. Additionally, President Wendy made a few important announcements:
- Wendy thanked Liz Sampson and Bob Eisler for hosting the demotion party for Carl and Bill.
- Wendy thanked Carl and Bill for a great year.
- The price of lunch will be going up in August, to reflect the true costs.
- Next week’s speaker will be Richard Camp of OPAT.
- The last meeting of July will be at the Museum. Look for an evite.
Museum Moment
Wendy shared with us some magnificent photographs from the early days (1920?) of Ojai.
Fining with Ren Adams
Ren did his usual excellent job of extracting funds from his victims by asking obscure questions about the history of the Ojai Museum. Well done, Ren!
President Wendy’s goals
Wendy unveiled her 3 goals for her Presidency:
- Increased connection between members
- Higher visibility within Ojai
- Support Mesa Farms
Then Wendy directed us to sign up for which avenues of service we preferred. After that, we returned to our table for a 10 minute discussion focused on what we like about Rotary and what we’d like to change. Each table elected a note taker and a spokesperson. With time running short, Bret Nighman did a splendid job in sprinting from table to table with his mic and encouraging the spokepersons to hurry up. Bret’s progress was slowed only when he tried to wrestle the mic from Patricia Anderson, who put up a valiant fight.

President Wendy has initiated a new element for our weekly meeting: an opportunity for Rotarians to make recommendations for their fellows. This weeks are:

- Wendy recommends The economics of everyday things
