- Bill Prather gave thanks that his family was evacuated from the Beirut airport safely
- Jack Jacobs expressed thanks that his house in Camarillo was spared from the fire
- Patricia expressed thanks that her daughter has access to IVF services in Oregon
Program: Armed Forces Radio
Bob Davis and Arndt Peltner introduced George Smith, author of Soldier of the Airwaves and long-time employee of Armed Forces Radio. George regaled us with stories from his career; these are some of the most colorful:
- Robin Williams’ famous “Good Morning Vietnam” was on AFR.
- The AFR does not censor or cherry pick its content: it just reproduces public content and let’s its listeners decide
- “Tokyo Rose and Axis Sally” prompted the creation of AFR
- Joshua Fisher, Germany’s former left Foreign Secretary, said Bob Dylan on AFR had a greater impact than Karl Marx.
- When Robin Williams was being prepared to speak in Saudi Arabia, he was warned not to talk about sex, camels or drugs. He ignored the warnings.
