Introduction
 
President Wendy Barker welcomed us all and Bill Prather led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. 
Wendy thanked Kelley Rassmussen and Bill for helping him with setup/breakdown and tech crew. 
Dave Brubaker received our dues while Liz Sampson greeted us with her big, friendly smile. 
Reminder Editor was Christine Fenn. 
Inspirational moment was from Leslie Bouche with an Olympic theme.
Roving Mic was Dave Watson.
Finer was Cindy Frings who auctioned off Smokey the Bear Trivia off key chains and a poster donated by Al West. 
Fine collector was Kelley Rasmussen. 
A delicious lunch was served by Jayne and her team. It was shepard’s pie and all the trimmings.   
 
Special Guest Carin Kalley, our Assistant District Governor brought the Peace Baton to pass onto us. We added messages about Peace and had each Rotarian touch and pass the baton. We got some great photos too.  Other guests were Bonnie our Financial person from Northern Trust, Michael Addison from Theatre Arts,  son Joe (a Hot Shot), Bruce Bouche, Amy & Bill Warlick (hopefully a transfer to our Club). 
 
Announcements 
 
Next weeks lunch mob – 8/16, 12:00 p.m., off site at restaurants of choice. 
Please share information with Tess or Wendy regarding anyone needing a card, call or visit. It can be to cheer, encourage or celebrate them. 
Taundra Roddick has a Youth Services meeting right after today’s meeting. 
Bob encouraged us all to “PAY UP” to support Polio +. He asked us to invite business’ that we deal with to donate as well. Let’s be a 100% Club! Renee’s daughter Zooey played Alice in Alice in Wonderland at the Art Center. Leslie Clark invited us to the OSA Party Animal Gala at the Ojai Valley Museum on 8/31, dress up animal style or come enjoy it as you are. Wendy shared with us a pictorial map of Ojai featuring an “Ojai salute to the Games of the XXIIIrd Olympics”.
 
Upcoming Programs
 
 – August 30th Beach Party at Larry Wilde and Dennis Guernsey’s  beach house from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Both Ojai Clubs are invited. Q-Time is the caterer. It’s $30 for non drinkers and $35 with alcohol. Please RSVP through Evite or to Sue Gilbreth. On August 23rd we’ll have new member get acquainted talks. On September 6th our District Governor Sherry Sim will be here. Then on September 13th, Sheryl Knox, OUSD Superintendent of Schools will be our speaker.
 
Smokey the Bear’s 80th Birthday
Wendy introduced Al West and his involvement with the amazing spokesperson Smokey throughout the years. Al shared a wonderful slide show and book about Smokey that he was instrumental in publishing.

Our Speaker today was Tony Thacher who gave us a wonderful glimpse into “A Tale of 2 Families”.  A wonderful slideshow presentation was a treat and he reminded us all to take a look at our own ancestral family trees. 
 
Todays Recommendations: The Weavers recommend Time Bandits on Apple TV.
Tony Thacher recommends the book Angle of Repose, by Wallace Stegner. Christine Fenn recommends RACE, the movie about The Jessie Owens Story.
