Today's speaker: Sherry Sims
Carin Kally, Assistant District Governor introduced Sherry Sims who is now serving as the District Governor.

Sherry is from Singapore but now lives in Cayucos where she started up the local Rotary there. She is very proud
of Rotary and all it's avenues of service. Sherry says that ROTARY IS LOVE. Rotary is love because of the things we
care about......basic education, communities, peace building, fund raising, polio eradication, just to name a few.
Sherry is here today to express her gratitude to our cub for the impact we have on the community. She is impressed with
the amount of money we give out in community grants, our collaboration with other clubs, our work on the environment,
and that we are a peace building club.
Sherry went on to tell a couple of stories from her local Rotary and then encouraged us to continue our focus on service,
to bond with other members and clubs, and to make our meetings irresistible to encourage members to attend. She also
said that one or two of us should really volunteer to be the President Elect!
Today's Recommendations:
1. Carl Gross recommends the book JAMES by Percival Everett. He says it's "A brilliant, action-packed reimagining of
THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN, both harrowing and darkly humorous, told from the enslaved Jim's point of view.
2. Betsy Watson recommends the documentary MOUNTAIN QUEEN: THE SUMMITS of LHAKPA SHERPA airing on netflix.
She says "Lhaka Sherpa" is a delightful inspiring ray of sunshine who summits Mt. Everest. Her life story in Nepal and
then in the US is like none I'v heard before.

The meeting was then adjourned.
