On a lovely winter day, Rotarians gathered for fellowship and service. Former President Betsy Watson presided over the meeting since Wendy was out of town. Betsy thanked all those whose efforts made the meeting possible. Clinton did the Flag Salute and Renee Halbrook did the inspiration.
It’s a Wonderful Life
The players who are putting on this Christmas classic gave Rotarians a brief preview of the show. Thanks to Gai Jones and Carl Gross for organizing!
Announcements
- The Holiday party will be held at the Ojai Art Center at 6pm.
- On Dec. 20, DeWayne Bocalli will entertain us with stories and songs. Dark on Dec. 27 and January 3. Next meeting January 10.
- Fern B. celebrated a birthday.
New Member

Fining
Kathy Yee and Catherine Lee did a splendid job of extracting fines by confusing the audience with a number of tricky and misdirected questions.
Program: Derek Poultney of the CREW
Sandy Buechly, Board Chairman of the CREW, introduced Derek Poultney, new executive director of the CREW. Derek gave a wide-ranging talk; here are some of the points:
- The goals of the CREW is to help young people help the environment
- The CREW has three major areas on concentration: forestry, the environment, fire safety.
- The CREW started in 1991 and has three sub-components: Green Valley Project; Once upon a watershed; the CREW
- The CREW is certified to provide Home Hardening
- The kids in the Crew range in age from late teens to early 20’s
- 50% of Crew kids eventually move into Environmental Careers
- Annual budget is $1.3 million.
Al West, former Forest Service District Director summed things up: “…the Crew does a magnificent job…”
