Our 1.4 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

In the beginning…
Co-Presidents Kelley and Bret called Rotarians to gather for fellowship and service in our very chic new venue: the MJHS dining room. Bret congratulated Kelley on her efforts to procure an excellent place for our weekly meetings.
We were delighted that our beloved past President Sue came to the meeting.
Kelley asked that we park in the upper parking lot; those with mobility issues are allowed to park next to the dining room.
Leah gave us a thought-provoking invocation by examining closely the impact of Rotary’s 4-way test.
Bret asked that we observe a moment of silence in memory of Al West.
Bret introduced our new catering team: Todd and Ray.
Ed Webster was a visitor.
Taste of Ojai Reminder
Deidre and Leah gave us a spirited and upbeat reminder that the success of Taste of Ojai, our only fundraising event, is dependent upon the active participation of every Rotarian. In particular, Rotarians are encouraged to obtain sponsorships. For those new to Taste of Ojai, Leah and Deidra distributed packets with information.
