In the beginning...
The meeting was called to order at 12:30 PM. President Gilbreth thanked Bryant Huber for leading the club with the flag salute. Dr. Marty Pops was thanked for his invocation. Matt Clements, our Sergeant of Arms, was thanked for set up. The greeters, Suzanne Scar and Leslie Bouche, were thanked as well as Anne Carper for manning the front table. Ginger was was thanked for serving lunch.
President Gilbreth welcomed visiting Rotarians: Alexia Parks from Boulder Rotary. Guests were welcomed: Kelsie Hoj, Jovanna Nava, Aubrey Schumaker, Erin Grett, Kirsten Hoj, Sophia Elirich, Maya Gilbert, Devon Patterson, and John Hoj.
Announcements:
President Gilbreth announced that the District Training Session is planned for Saturday, April 1st in Oxnard. A continental breakfast will be served starting at 8AM. A quick survey was taken on which member will be attending the Atlanta convention.
The club was reminded that Community Grant Applications are due by March 1st. Applications are available online.
The club was reminded that Scholarship applications have been submitted. Suzanne Scar and her committee are evaluating 67 applications, submitted by over 50 applicants. The awards will be made at our May 19th club meeting.
Betsy Watson reminded club members that our Fifth Friday celebrations will be next Friday, March 31st at 5:30 PM at the home of Bob Davis. The cost is $15 per person and includes food, music, beverages, and dancing?!
Marty Babayco reminded club members about Jock Van Dykes celebration of life reception.
Fining was skipped today, however, an opportunity was given for members to give confessions.

Program: Nordhoff Drama Students--Scenes from Steel Magnolias
Marty Babayco introduced our speaker, John Hoj. John has been teaching at Nordhoff High School for the last 25 years. He teaches Social Studies, US History and Drama. He's recently Directed: The Odd Couple, Steel Magnolias, You Can't Take it With You and Harvey.
John Hoj is married to Kim Hoj, Nordhoff AP Psychology and Dance Teacher. Together they have three children, Kirsten, Kelsie, and Dillon. John is described by his students as "...very wired but teaches you a lot" and "He's a hurricane of energy who keeps his students learning, laughing, and enlightened all at the same time!!".
Mr. Hoj introduced the cast of Steel Magnolias and they performed a short scene from the play. The play has been selected for inclusion in the exclusive International Thespian Festival that will be held in Nebraska in June, 2017. Nordhoff High School is one of only eleven schools in the United States and Canada to be invited to present at the festival. The production is only the third from California in 25 years to be invited!!!
For the first time in school history, the entire cast, crew, and set will be taking a show on the road to be performed at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in front of thousands of students and theatre educators from the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
Two special benefit showings are being arranged: Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15th at 7:00 PM at Matilija Auditorium. Ticket proceeds will be used to help send the cast and crew to Nebraska for the International Thespian Festival this June.

President Gilbreth finished the meeting with a story about the late Professor Carl Jaffe. He reminded members that next week's meeting is dark.
