October is Economic and Community Development Month
Are you an established professional who wants to make positive changes in your community and the world? Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

The one and only Dierdre Daly hosted our Friday, October 2nd meeting with her characteristic charm and quick wit.

After some fun socializing, President Michael Scar opened the Zoom meeting.  Ren Adams led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Suzanne Scar shared an invocation.

A rebel Sunday walkers’ group has splintered off from the Sunday hikers’ group; both welcome all who want to get some early 6:30 am Sunday morning exercise…the walkers, led by Kathy Yee, meet at Rotary Park; the hikers, led by Dierdre Daly, have been meeting at the Oso Road Trailhead.

Program

Roll out the red carpet!!  Three new-ish members threw caution to the wind and shared their personal histories in a groundbreaking performance that no doubt left their audience stunned…and maybe clamoring for autographs?

Kathy Yee, Cindy Frings, and Sue Gilbreth were assisted (some might say abetted) by the masterful Bryant Huber, who proved singlehandedly that the eye of a hurricane is a place of calm.

Members who were left speechless or who just have to see it again to believe it will be able to go to a link on our club website.  To see more of what these fun-loving members are up to, stay tuned….they have somehow been put in charge of our club social events!
